La French Tech In Paris Region

The « French Tech in Paris Region » event was held as Valerie Pécresse, President of the “Ile-de-France” area visited South Korea on July 4th and July 5th, 2016. Ms Pecresse brought with her a delegation of 8 foremost entrepreneurs and innovative schools from her region : Ecole 42, Le Comptoir de l’Innovation, Evolution Energie, OpenClassrooms, Creative Valley, 4 roues sous 1 parapluie, Vectuel and the University Paris-Saclay.

Ms Pécresse took this opportunity to describe the French Tech ecosystem in Paris and to present success stories in the area. She underlined the attractiveness of the Paris area, in particular in the health and biotechnology sector, in the sustainable transportation, in tourism and in big-data related industries thanks to a network of institutions specialized in applied mathematics. For example, the Paris-Saclay University produces 25% of the research in engineering in France.

100 participants attended the event: about 20 korean entrepreneurs as well as french entrepreneurs settled in Korea, large French companies and representants of the Korean start-up ecosystem.

Following the pitch event, 2 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) were signed to enhance cooperation for start-ups between France and Korea. The first MoU was signed between Creative Valley and the Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development (KISED). The second MoU was signed between Creative Valley and the Small and Medium Business Corporation (SBC).
